Description of the medicine: Sultamicillin (Sultamicillin)

SULTAMICILLIN (Sultamicillin).

Combination preparation containing 2: 1 ampicillin-sodium and sulbactam-sodium.

Synonyms: Ammiside, Sulacillin, Sultasin, Unazine, Ampisid, Sulacillin, Unasyn.

Sulbactam sodium - sodium salt of sulfonpenicillate - is a derivative of the main nucleus of penicillins.

White crystalline powder; Easily soluble in water.

Sulbactam sodium does not have a pronounced antibacterial activity, but irreversibly inhibits β-lactamase (an enzyme that destroys the β-lactam nucleus of penicillins). When used together with penicillins, sulbactam protects the latter from hydrolysis and inactivation.

Sultamycillin is a highly effective drug acting on Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobes and anaerobes, including penicillin-resistant strains.

Unazine is used for pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis, sinusitis, purulent surgical infections (abscesses, phlegmon, osteomyelitis, etc.), peritonitis, urological and gynecological infections, for the prevention of postoperative purulent complications, for gonorrhea and other infections.

Enter intramuscularly or intravenously. The dose for adults is from 1.5 to 12 grams per day in 3-4 injections (the maximum daily dose of 12 g corresponds to 8 g of ampicillin sodium salt and 4 g of sulbactam sodium). Children are administered at a rate of 150 mg per 1 kg of body weight per day in 3 to 4 injections (newborns in 2 injections).

Possible complications and contraindications see Ampicillin.
