Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used internally. The drug is stable in an acidic environment; When ingested quickly (within 1, 5 - 2 hours) and almost completely absorbed when applied on an empty stomach and somewhat slower - when taken after a meal. The therapeutic concentration in the blood after a single dose is maintained for 4-6 hours. It is released in significant quantities with urine unchanged. A small part is excreted with bile. Poorly penetrates the blood-brain barrier.

Cephalexin is administered internally, regardless of food intake.

Take in the form of capsules, tablets and suspension.

Single dose for adults is 0.25-0.5 g, daily 1 - 2 g. Children are prescribed at a rate of 25-50 mg / kg per day. In severe infection, the dose for adults can be increased to 4 g per day (maximum), for children - up to 100 mg / kg. The daily dose is divided into 4 divided doses. The duration of treatment is usually 7 to 14 days.

If the excretory function of the kidneys is impaired, the dose is reduced (because of the danger of cumulation).

To prepare the suspension, 80 ml of distilled water are added to the vial containing 2, 5 g of the substance before dispensing from the pharmacy, and shaken.
