Ceftazidime (Cefoperazone) *.

Synonyms; Tsefobid, Cefapizon, Cefobid, Lorizon.

Cephalosporin antibiotic of the third generation.

The white crystalline powder. Easily soluble in water.

It has a wide spectrum of action. By basically similar action with other third generation cephalosporins; used for septicemia, meningitis, respiratory infections and urinary tract, gonorrhea, infections of bones, joints, soft tissues and others. Provided mainly with bile. Therefore it is recommended to use in diseases of the biliary tract.

Ceftazidime administered intravenously and intramuscularly. The usual dose for adults 1 - 2 g per day; in severe infections - up to 12 grams per day in divided doses. Infants and children are administered from 50 to 200 mg / kg per day in 2 divided doses.
