SULFACYL-SODIUM (Sulfacylum-natrium). Para-Aminobenzenesulfacetamide sodium.

Synonyms: Albacide-sodium, Sulfacetamide, Sulfacyl soluble, Acetopt, Albucid-natrium, Almocetamide, Octsetan, Ophthalmide, Prontamide, Sebizon, Sulfacetamide, Sodium sulfacetamide, Sulfacetamidum natricum, Sulfacylum solubile, Sulfaprocul and others.

White crystalline powder odorless. Easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in alcohol. Aqueous solutions (with the addition of sodium metabisulfate and 1N sodium hydroxide solution as pH stabilizers to pH 7, 5-8, 5) are sterilized at +100 C for 30 min.

The drug is effective in streptococcal, gonococcal, pneumococcal and colibacillary infections.

Good solubility in water allows the use of the drug for injection; Solutions are also instilled in the conjunctival sac.

Inside, adults are prescribed 0.5 - 1, 0 g 3 - 5 times a day, children 0.1 - 0.5 g 3 - 5 times a day.

Higher doses for adults inside: single 2 g, daily 7 g.

For injection, sodium sulfacil is used for pneumonia, purulent tracheobronchitis, infections of the urinary tract and other infectious diseases. Enter slowly slowly (for at least 5 minutes) 3 - 5 ml of a 30% solution 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours.

In ophthalmic practice, sulfacyl sodium is used in the form of solutions (10-20-30%) and ointments (10-20-30%) with conjunctivitis, blepharitis, purulent corneal ulcers and other infectious diseases of the eyes. The drug is effective for gonorrheal diseases of the eyes in newborns and adults.

With gonorrheal diseases, the eye resorts to combined treatment: local - in the form of instillation of 30% solution or dust - and ingestion.

For the prevention of blenearrenia, 2 drops of 30% solution are injected into the eyes of newborns immediately after birth and 2 drops every 2 hours.

When corneal ulcers are powdered with powdered (powdered) sulfacyl sodium 5-6 times a day before complete epithelialization, then they switch to the instillation of an aqueous solution; Apply also ointment.

Sulfacil sodium can be used to treat infected wounds. The wound surfaces are powdered with powder.

The drug is usually well tolerated. Sometimes, especially when using more concentrated solutions, tissue irritation is observed; In these cases, solutions of lower concentration are prescribed.

Sulfacil sodium is contraindicated in the presence of an anamnesis of data on toxicoallergic reactions to sulfonamides. Intravenous administration is contraindicated in severe diseases of the hematopoietic system and uremia.
