Description of the medicine: Salazopyridazine (Salazopyridazinum)

Salazopyridazinum (Salazopyridazinum). 5- (para- [N - (3-Methoxypyridazinyl-6) -sulfamido] -phenylazo) -salicylic acid.

Synonyms: Salazodine, Salazodin.

A fine crystalline powder of orange color.

Salazopyridazine is practically insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, soluble in sodium hydroxide solution.

The structure and nature of the action is close to salazosulfapyridine. It is a product of azo compound of sulfapiridazine and salicylic acid. In the body, it breaks down into sulfapyridazine and 5-aminosalicylic acid (see Mesalazine), which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Like salazosulfapiridinu (sulfasilazinu) shows immunocorrecting activity.

Salazopyridazine is more active (acts in smaller doses) than salazosulfapyridine.

Salazopyridazine is used to treat patients with ulcerative colitis, as well as for diseases that occur with autoimmune disorders, including as a basic agent in the therapy of rheumatoid arthritis.

With ulcerative colitis, salazopyridazine is prescribed to adults inside (after eating) in tablets of 0.5 g 4 times a day for 3 to 4 weeks. If during this period the therapeutic effect is manifested, the daily dose is reduced to 1, O - 1, 5 g (0.5 g 2 - 3 times a day) and continue treatment for another 2 to 3 weeks. In the absence of effect, the drug is stopped. Patients with mild forms of the disease prescribe the drug first in a daily dose of 1, 5 g, and in the absence of effect, increase the dose to 2 g per day.

Children aged 3 to 5 years are prescribed salazopyridazine starting at a dose of 0.5 g per day (2 to 3 doses). In the absence of effect within 2 weeks. The drug is canceled, and if there is a therapeutic effect, the treatment is continued at this dose for 5 to 7 days, then the dose is reduced by 2 times and the treatment is continued for 2 more weeks. In the case of clinical remission, the daily dose is again reduced by half and assigned to 40 to 50 days, counting from the start of treatment.

Children aged 5 to 7 years are prescribed the drug from 0.75-1.0 g per day, from 7 to 15 years - from a dose of 1, O - 1, 2 - 1.5 g per day. Treatment and reduction of doses are carried out according to the same scheme as in children from 3 to 5 years.

The use of salazopyridazine is combined with general methods of treatment and diet, recommended for ulcerative colitis.

Salazopyridazine can also be used for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease rectally in the form of suspension and suppositories.

Suspension of salazopyridazine 5% (Suspensio Salazopyridazini 5%). Contains salazopyridazine, tween-80, benzyl alcohol and polyvinyl alcohol. The drug after shaking is a suspension of orange, which then settles.

Applied for rectal administration (direct and sigmoid colon damage, preoperatively and after subtotal colectomy, with poor drug tolerance in the form of tablets). The suspension is slightly warmed up and injected as an enema into the rectum or into the bowel stump by 20-40 ml 1 - 2 times a day.
