It has an antiprotozoal effect on the sexual forms, schizonts and paraerythrocytic forms of all kinds of malaria plasmoids.

Applied for the prevention of long-term recurrences with three- and four-day and tropical malaria. In addition, prescribed for personal chemoprophylaxis in combination with hingamin (chloroquine), as well as for public chemoprophylaxis.

Is taken internally. The daily dose for adults is 0.027 g (27 mg) of primaquine diphosphate, i.e. 3 tablets of 0.009 g, which corresponds to a daily dose of Primaxin base 0.015 g (15 mg). The course of treatment is 14 days.

The daily dose for children under 1 year is 0.00225 grams (1/4 tablets), 1 to 2 years, 0.0045 grams (1/2 tablets), 2 to 4 years, 0.0675 g (3/4 tablets) , 4 - 7 years - 0,009 g (1 tablet), 7 - 12 years - 0,0135 g (1,5 tablets), 12 - 15 years - 0,018 g (2 tablets), over 15 years 0,027 g (3 tablets) .

The drug is usually well tolerated, but pain in the abdomen, dyspepsia, pain in the heart; General weakness, cyanosis (methemoglobinemia). These phenomena occur after the drug is discontinued. Children should be prescribed only with careful supervision. In individuals with erythrocyte deficiency in the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, acute intravascular hemolysis with hemoglobinuria can occur (see Hinocid). In severe cases, the picture resembles hemoglobinuric fever.

When prescribing a primaquine, patients with symptoms of anemia and with a suspicion of an abnormality of red blood cells should exercise great care and regularly examine blood and urine; At the first signs of a change in the color of urine, a sharp decrease in the content of hemoglobin or the number of white blood cells the drug is immediately canceled.

Among people in some areas of the Mediterranean, the Caucasus and Africa (especially often) there are people with congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, therefore in these areas the primaquine should be administered with extreme caution, not exceeding the daily dose of 0.015 g based on the base (0.027 g diphosphate) For an adult; In the process of treatment, careful monitoring of the patient is necessary.

Primax should not be taken simultaneously with the acrichine (primaquine is retained in the blood, and therefore its toxicity increases) and within the shortest time after taking the acrichine (due to the slow release of acrychin from the body), and also with drugs that can exert hemolytic action and inhibit myeloid elements Bone marrow (sulfonamides, etc.).

Primax is contraindicated for persons with acute infectious diseases (except malaria), in the period of exacerbation of rheumatism and other diseases characterized by a tendency to granulocytopenia, with blood and hematopoiesis diseases, kidney disease, angina pectoris. Do not apply primaquine concomitantly with drugs that depress hemopoiesis.
