OZOKERITE MEDICAL (Ozokeritum medicinalis).

The waxy mass from dark brown to black is a substance of oil origin. Contains paraffin, mineral oils, resins and other substances. It dissolves in gasoline, turpentine, kerosene, mixed with vegetable and mineral oils, with paraffin.

Ozokerite is used as a means with a large heat capacity and low thermal conductivity for heat treatment in arthritis, arthrosis, chronic radiculitis, contractures, chronic shin ulcers and other diseases.

Applied ozocerite in the form of compresses and cuvette-applikatsionnym method.

For compresses, impregnated with molten ozocerite gauze pad (6 - 8 layers). The gasket is squeezed, cooled to a temperature of + 50 C and applied to the corresponding skin areas. Usually the compress consists of two pads, located one on the other and covered with wax paper, oilcloth and quilted jacket. Depending on the reading, the temperature of the second (external) gasket can be 60 - 70 C (but not higher than 80 C).

For a cuvette application method, pour molten ozocerite into cuvettes lined with oilcloth or wax paper. Molten ozocerite gradually cools down to the desired temperature and turns into a flat cake, which is extracted together with an oilcloth from the cuvette and applied to the skin area to be treated.

Ozokeritic compress or cake is applied for 20 - 30 (up to 60) min. After removing the cake you need rest for 30-40 minutes. The course of treatment is usually 15 to 20 procedures.

The use of ozocerite is contraindicated in febrile states, cardiovascular system decompensation, acute and subacute cardiac diseases, severe forms, hypertension, pulmonary emphysema, bronchial asthma, dystrophy, tuberculosis, benign and malignant tumors, inclinations to bleeding, blood diseases, cough and prone To penetration of ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, ulcerative enterocolitis, severe liver disease, gangrenous forms of obliterating endarteritis, acute and subacute thrombophlebitis, thyrotoxicosis, epilepsy, with suppuration in the pelvic organs, during pregnancy.

Also available are: a) Ozokerafinum (Ozokerafinum). The waxy mass is from light brown to dark brown, containing 30 parts of ozocerite and 70 parts of paraffin wax. It is used for epicutaneous applications as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic; B) Ozokerkine briquettes, contain ozokerkine. They have a large heat capacity and low thermal conductivity. They have a local anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Apply for the same indications as ozocerite; C) Ozokerkine napkins - cotton cloth impregnated with ozokerakine.
