Flumazenil (Flumazenil).
Ethyl-8-fluoro-5,6-dihydro-5-methyl-6-oxo-4H-imidazo [1,5-a] [1,4] benzodiazepine-3-carboxylate.
Synonym: Aneksat, Anexate.
White or almost white crystalline powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in weakly acidic aqueous solutions.
Being competitive benzodiazepine receptor blocker, eliminates the central psychomotor effects of the benzodiazepine tranquilizers: neutralizes hypnotics, sedative effect, promotes restoration of respiration and consciousness when they overdose. However it possesses toward inner benzodiazepine receptor agonistic activity and having anticonvulsant effect.
Apply to remove the central (except anticonvulsant) effects of benzodiazepine tranquilizers (including during injection of anesthesia, the differential diagnosis of an overdose).
Administered intravenously (in 5% glucose solution or 0.9% sodium chloride solution) in anesthetic practice - by 0.0002 g (0.2 mg) for 15 seconds, if necessary 0.0001 (0.1 mg) through 1 min to a total dose of 0,001 g (1 mg); intensive care - at an initial dose of 0.0003 g (0.3 mg); if necessary, repeated at every 60 seconds to a total dose of 0,002 grams (2 mg).
Possible side effects: flushing, anxiety, palpitations (with the rapid introduction), seizures (epilepsy in history), the symptoms of benzodiazepine withdrawal.
Product: 0.01% injection in ampoules of 5 and 10 ml.
