LOMEFLOXACIN (Lomefloxacin).

1-Ethyl-6,8-difluoro-1,4-dihydro-7- (3-methyl-1-piperazinyl) -4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid.

Synonyms: Lomflox, Maxavin, Okaccine, Lomexid, Lomflox, Maxaquin, Ocacin.

White to pale yellow powder. Slightly soluble in water and virtually insoluble in alcohol. Sensitive to light in aqueous solution.

Produced in the form of hydrochloride.

One of the most active modern antibacterial drugs of the group of fluoroquinolones. The presence of two fluorine atoms and a methyl group in the piperazine nucleus in the lomefloxacin molecule (see the formulas of pefloxacin, norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin) promotes its rapid and prolonged action in the body.

It is active against most gram-negative and certain gram-positive (staphylococcus) aerobic bacteria, chlamydia and mycobacterium tuberculosis.

When ingested quickly and completely absorbed, C max is 0.8-1.5 h, T S - 8-9 h; Well penetrates into organs and tissues; Undergoes a slight biotransformation, is excreted by the kidneys.

Applied with infections of the urinary tract (cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis) and lower respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract (dysentery, typhoid, salmonellosis) and bile ducts, ENT organs, skin, soft tissues, bones, pelvic organs, with gonorrhea, Chlamydia and other infections caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to fluoroquinolones.

It is also effective in bacterial infections of the anterior chamber of the eye (blepharitis, conjunctivitis and blepharoconjunctivitis).

Inside, adults are usually prescribed 0.4 g (up to 0.8 g) once a day. If the kidney function is violated on the first day, a dose of 0.4 g is used, then 0.2 g per day. The drug is contraindicated in case of predisposition to seizures, during pregnancy and lactation, at the age of 18.
