NORFLOXACIN (Norfloxacin).

1-Ethyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-7- (1-piperazinyl) -3-quinolinecarboxylic acid.

It differs in chemical structure from pefloxacin by the absence of a methyl group at the piperazinyl nucleus.

It is active against most gram-negative and certain gram-positive (staphylococcus) bacteria. Does not affect anaerobes.

Absorbed quickly, but not completely (20-40% of the dose), C max is 60-90 min, T S - 2,5-4,5 h; Well penetrates into organs and tissues; Undergoes a slight biotransformation in the liver, is excreted in the urine mainly in an unchanged form.

Applied with infections of the urinary tract, intestinal infections (shigellosis, salmonellosis), eye infections, with otitis, prostatitis and gonorrhea.

Assign inside and topically.

Inside (1 hour before or 2 hours after eating), usually 0.2-0.4 g 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days (with chronic recurrent urinary tract infection - up to 12 weeks); With acute gonococcal urethritis, pharyngitis, proctitis, cervicitis - 0.8 g once.

Locally appoint 1-2 drops of the affected eye every 2 hours or 4 times a day and 4 drops in each ear 3-4 times a day.

May cause side effects from the gastrointestinal tract (dyspepsia), urinary tract (dysuria), central nervous system (insomnia, hallucinations), cardiovascular system (tachycardia, arrhythmias, arterial hypotension), as well as dysbacteriosis, candidiasis, leukopenia, skin allergic reactions.

The drug is contraindicated in cases of severe renal failure, pregnancy, breast-feeding and at the age of 15 years.

Form release: tablets of 0.2; 0.4 and 0.8 g (N. 10, 20); 0.3% solution (eye and ear drops) in 5 ml dropper bottles (Normax).
