Spiramycin (Spiramycin).

Synonym: Rovamycinum, Rovamycin.

Natural antibiotic macrolides.

Has bacteriostatic effect against streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, meningococci, gonococci, Legionella, Listeria, Clostridium, Mycoplasma, Toxoplasma, Chlamydia, Leptospira, Campylobacter and other microorganisms. Resistant to him Enterobacter and Pseudomonas.

Quickly absorbed by ingestion (30 min), C max is 1,5-3 h, T ½ - 8 hours, well into the organs and fluids, it is metabolized in the liver (very slowly), is allocated primarily in the bile.

Assign with respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract, pelvic organs, bones, joints, skin and soft tissues, toxoplasmosis, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, for the prevention of acute articular rheumatism and meningitis, with bacteriocarrier whooping cough and diphtheria.

Administered orally and intravenously.

Inside (before eating) designate an adult to 6 000 000 - 9,000,000 IU (2-3 g) per day (2 admission), for children weighing up to 10 kg - 750 000 - 1 500 000 IU, 10-20 kg - 1 500 000 - 3 000 000 IU and 20 kg - a rate of 1.5 million IU per 10 kg of body weight per day (2-3 hours). The course of treatment - 7-14 days.

Intravenously (adults only) are administered 4 500 000 - 9,000,000 IU (1.5-3 grams) per day (3 hours).

Possible side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions (skin rash).

Contraindications: severe liver dysfunction. Not recommended to prescribe the drug during lactation.

Product: tablets of 1 500 000 IU (N. 16) and 3 000 000 IU (N. 10); granules for oral suspension for children 375 000 750 000 and 1 500 000 IU; powder for injection solutions in vials of 1 500 000 IU.
