Leviticus 17

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, saying:
2 Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: This is what the Lord commands:
3 if someone from the house of Israel slaughtered a calf or a sheep or a goat in the camp, or if someone stabbed outside the camp
4 and will not lead to the entrance of the tabernacle of the congregation, so as to offer a sacrifice to the Lord before the Lord’s dwelling, blood will be imputed to that person: he will shed blood, and that person will be cut off from his people;
5 [this] so that the sons of Israel bring their sacrifices, which they slaughter in the field, that they bring them before the Lord to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to the priest, and slaughter them to the Lord for peace offerings;
6 and the priest sprinkles blood on the altar of the Lord at the entrance of the tabernacle of the congregation, and waxes fat in the sweet fragrance of the Lord,
7 so that from now on they do not offer sacrifices to their idols, for which they walk fornication. These things be to them an eternal ordinance in their generations.
eight [More] tell them: if someone from the house of Israel and from the aliens who live between you, offers a burnt offering or sacrifice
nine and does not lead to the entrance of the tabernacle of the congregation, in order to complete it to the Lord, that man will be destroyed from his people.

ten If someone from the house of Israel and from the aliens who live between you will eat any blood, then I will turn My face to the soul of the one who will eat blood, and I will destroy it from her people,
eleven because the soul of the body is in blood, and I have appointed it for you on the altar, to purify your souls, for this blood purifies the soul;
12 therefore I said to the sons of Israel: not a soul among you should eat blood, and an alien living between you should not eat blood.
13 If one of the sons of Israel and the aliens living between you, catch a beast or a bird that you can eat, then he must let her blood leak out and cover it with earth,
fourteen for the soul of every body [is] his blood, it is his soul; therefore I said to the sons of Israel: do not eat blood from any body, because the soul of every body is its blood: everyone who eats it will be cut off.
fifteen And everyone who eats carrion or torn by a beast, a native or a stranger, must wash his clothes and bathe in water, and will be unclean until evening, and [then] will be clean;
16 if he does not wash [his clothes] and wash his body, he will bear his iniquity.
