Description of the medicine: Prosidol (Prosidolum)
Prosidolum.
1- (2-Ethoxyethyl) -4-phenyl-4-propionyloxy piperidine hydrochloride.
White with a weak yellowish tinge crystalline powder. Soluble in water.
The original domestic drug. The structure and pharmacological properties are very close to promedol. On analgesic action inferior to morphine.
Applied as an anesthetic for injuries and diseases, accompanied by severe pain syndrome (myocardial infarction, pancreatitis, renal, hepatic, intestinal colic, etc.). In surgical practice used for premedication, as a component of general anesthesia, with pain in the postoperative period.
Assign intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously (slowly drip), as well as inside and behind the cheek.
Apply usually parenterally in doses of 0,005-0,01 g (0,5-1 ml of 1% solution), with severe pain - in high doses (1.5-4 ml of 1% solution), the effect lasts up to 4 hours; Tablets are placed on the cheek at a dose of 0.02 g (20 mg), with insufficient effect after 30 minutes, the preparation is repeated; Inside appoint 0,025 g (25 mg). The daily dose to 0.25 g (250 mg).
Possible side effects and contraindications, precautions are the same as when applying promedola.
Forms of release: tablets of 0.025 g (25 mg), tablets subbuccal for 0.01 and 0.02 g (10 and 20 mg) (N. 10); 1% solution and 1 ml ampoules.
