Square thigh muscle
Square thigh muscle, m. quadratus femoris, has the form of a relatively thick rectangle, covered rear m. gluteus maximus. It starts from the lateral surface of the ischial tuberosity , and attaches to the intertrochanteric ridge, reaching the greater trochanter.
Function: rotates the hip outwards.
Innervation: n. ischiadicus (plexus sacralis) (LIV-SI).
Blood supply: aa. glutea inferior, circumflexa femoris medialis, obturatoria.
