Small rhomboid muscle , m. Rhomboideus minor, originates from the spinous processes of the two lower cervical vertebrae and is attached to the medial margin of the scapula. Large and small diamond-shaped muscles are often separated from each other only by a small connective tissue layer.
Function : brings the scapula closer to the spinal column along an oblique line, heading towards the middle and upwards.
Innervation : n. Dorsalis scapulae (CIV-CV).
Blood supply : aa. Transversa colli, suprascapularis, intercostales posteriores.
