Desmethylimipramine (Desmethylimipraminum). N- (3-Methylaminopropyl) iminodibenzyl.
Synonyms: Desipramine, Petilil, Deprexan, Desipramine, Norimipramin, Norpramin, Norpran, Nortimil, Pertofran, Petylyl, Sertofren, etc.
Chemically it is a demethylated analog of imipramine. In the body is formed as its natural metabolite. It has antidepressant properties. According to the mechanism of action, indications for use and therapeutic effect is close to imipramine.
Assign inwards in the form of pills to 0.025 g, in the first days 2 to 3 times a day, gradually increasing the dose to 6 to 8 pills a day. Typically, a therapeutic dose of 4 - 6 tablets per day, supporting - 3 - 4 tablets per day.
Side effects and contraindications are the same as for imipramine and amitriptyline.
