DESMETHYLIMIPRAMINE (Desmethylimipraminum). N- (3-Methylaminopropyl) iminodibenzyl.
Synonyms: Desipramine, Petilil, Deprexan, Desipramine, Norimipramin, Norpramin, Norpran, Nortimil, Pertofran, Petylyl, Sertofren, etc.
It is chemically a demethylated analog of imipramine. In the body, it is formed as its natural metabolite. It has antidepressant properties. According to the mechanism of action, indications for use and therapeutic effect, it is close to imipramine.
Assign inside in the form of tablets of 0.025 g, in the first days 2–3 times a day, gradually increasing the dose to 6–8 tablets per day. Usually a therapeutic dose of 4 to 6 tablets per day, supporting - 3 to 4 tablets per day.
Side effects and contraindications are the same as for imipramine and amitriptyline.
