Meloxicam (Meloxicam).

4-Hydroxy-2-methyl-N- (5-methyl-2-thiazolyl) -2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxamide-1,1-dioxide.

Synonym: Movalis, Movalis.

It belongs to the group of oxicams.

It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.

If ingestion is well absorbed, penetrates into the synovial fluid, T1 / 2 is 20 hours.

Indications for use: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis.

Assign inside and rectally.

Inside are in the form of tablets during the meal (not liquid, squeezed water). A typical daily dose (for adults) - 0.0075 g (7.5 mg). When little effect dose increased to 0,015 grams (maximum daily dose).

Administered rectally by suppository 1 (0.015 grams) per day.

The main feature of meloxicam compared to "normal" NSAID is less ulcerogenic its action and better tolerability.

However, the application of meloxicam can be observed: neuralgia, vertigo, hearing loss, drowsiness, edema, high blood pressure, anemia, leukopenia, allergic reactions.

It is necessary to take into account the probability of individual sensitivity and cross-hypersensitivity with acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and other NSAIDs.

Caution should be exercised in the appointment of patients with bronchial asthma, propensity to allergic reactions, angioedema. Although less ulcerogenic action, meloxicam should not be used for stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers (especially in the acute stage). Also, do not prescribe medication when expressed lesions of the liver and kidneys, pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as under the age of 15 years.

It enhances the effects of indirect anticoagulants, thrombolytic agents, heparin, ticlopidine; reduces the effect of antihypertensive drugs.

Product: tablets of 0.0075 and 0.015 g (7.5 and 15 mg) (N. 10, 20); suppositories for rectal 0.015 g (15 mg) (N. 6).
