Description of the medicine: Memoplant (Memoplant)
Standardized dry extract from the leaves of a Ginkgo biloba plant (Ginkgo biloba). Contains flavonglycosides, terpenlactones (ginkgolides and bilobalide) and other extractive substances.
The drug has versatile pharmacological activity: improves the rheological properties of blood (inhibits the aggregation and adhesion of red blood cells and platelets) and microcirculation; has antihypoxic and antioxidant effects; inhibits the development and accelerates the resolution of traumatic and toxic edema of brain tissue; improves memory and learning ability. There is evidence of a decrease under the influence of the memoplant observed in aging disorders of the cholinergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system.
When taken orally, it is well absorbed; Cmax is 1.5 hours, T1 / 2 - 4.5 hours.
The drug is slightly toxic.
Assign to adults with diseases of the central nervous system associated with metabolic disorders and cerebral circulation, especially in the elderly and senile, including dementia due to Alzheimer's disease or as a result of past strokes. It is also used to improve memory and concentration in young people (over 12 years old).
The drug is contraindicated in vestibular disorders and tinnitus due to pathology of the inner ear, with diabetic and senile retinopathies.
There is evidence of the effectiveness of memoplant in patients with obliterating diseases of the peripheral arteries (intermittent claudication, Raynaud's disease).
Apply inside (regardless of food intake).
In case of dementia, 0.04-0.08 g (1-2 tablets) are prescribed 3 times a day; in other cases, 0.04 g 3 times a day or 0.08 g 2 times a day.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the clinical picture and is at least 8 weeks for dementia and at least 6 weeks for other indications. The average duration of treatment is 3 months.
The drug is well tolerated and can be used for a long time.
In some cases, there are disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, headache, skin allergic reactions.
