Description medications: Carvedilol (Carvedilol)

Carvedilol (Carvedilol).

(±) -1- (carbazol-4-yloxy) -3 - [[2- (o-methoxyphenoxy) ethyl] amino] -2-propanol.

Synonyms: Dilatrend, Kredeks, Credex, Dilatrend.

The structure can be considered as modified (carbazole) analogue of β-blockers.

It combines indiscriminate blocking effect on β-adrenergic receptors with the selective α 1 adrenoblokiruyuschee activity; also has antioxidant properties.

According to reports, carvedilol has a positive effect on blood lipids and lipoproteins in blood plasma.

Applied with arterial hypertension (most effective for moderate forms of hypertension) and angina.

The drug is also used in the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure (in combination with the "standard" therapies - digoxin, diuretics, ACE inhibitors).

Assign inside.

With arterial hypertension start with 0.0125 grams (12.5 mg) once a day; 2 days increase the dose up to 0,025 grams (once). If necessary, the dose is gradually increased to 0.05 g per day, or used in combination with ACE inhibitors and diuretics.

When angina appoint 0,0125-0,025 g (12.5-25 mg) 2 times a day.

In heart failure, start with a low dose - 0.003125 g (3.125 mg), 2 times a day; 2 weeks increase its half (6.25 mg), then adjusted depending on the effect and tolerability of patients body weight (maximum daily dose 0.05-0.1 g).

As published in the foreign literature, in patients with congestive heart failure treated with an ACE inhibitor, diuretics or cardiac glycosides, adding thereto carvedilol resulted in a reduction in total mortality, sudden death and death from heart failure hospitalizations and frequency.

The drug is generally well tolerated. However, in its application possible orthostatic hypotension, urinary disorders, impotence, depression, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, elevated liver enzymes, and other side effects that are typical of β-blockers (see. Inderal).

Indications are the same as those of other β-blockers (see. Inderal).

Cardiac glycosides and diltiazem increase dampening effect of carvedilol on atrioventricular conduction.

Product: pills to 0.00625; 0.0125 and 0.025 g (6.25, 12.5 and 25 mg) (N. 10, 30).
