Esmolol (Esmolol).

(+) - 4- [2-Hydroxy-3 - [(1-methylethyl) amino] propoxy] phenylpropionic acid methyl ester.

Synonym: Breviblok, Brevibloc.

B1-cardioselective blocker short-acting (T1 / 2 of 9 minutes). Partial agonist and membrane stabilizing activity is not.

Mainly used for short-term treatment of supraventricular arrhythmias (atrial flutter and shimmer, sinus tachycardia) and high blood pressure during and after operations. It is also used thyrotoxic crisis, acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, and pheochromocytoma.

Administered intravenously in a 1% solution (20 ml of a 25% concentrate in 500 ml of solvent) at a rate of 0.05-0.2 mg / kg per minute; acute myocardial infarction - 0.5 mg for 1 minute, if necessary, this dose was repeated after two minutes, and then at a rate of 0.05-0.3 mg / kg per minute).

Possible side effects, contraindications and limitations to use are the same as those of other B-blockers (see. Inderal and Atenolol).

Method of issuance: 1% solution for injection in vials of 10 ml and 25% concentrate for infusion solutions in vials of 10 ml.
