Description of the medicine: Propylthiouracil (Propylthiouracil)
2,3-dihydro-6-propyl-2-thioxo-4 (14) -pyrimidinone.
Synonym: Propicyl, Propycil.
By the mechanism of action and indications it is close to merkazolil (see).
Assign inside (without chewing, washing down with water); for adults, the initial daily dose of 0.2-0.4 g (in 3 doses), supporting - 0.05-0.1 g (in 2 doses); for children - respectively 0.05-0.15 g (5-7 mg / kg per day) and 0.05 g.
Possible side effects: abdominal and muscle pain, vomiting, neuromuscular disorders, taste and smell disturbance, hepatotoxicity, vasculitis, lupus-like syndrome, periarteritis nodosa, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, erythropoiesis disturbance, skin allergic reactions, etc.
During the treatment period, regular monitoring of the cellular composition of the blood and the functional state of the thyroid gland is necessary.
Release form: tablets on 0,05 g (50 mg) (N. 20).
