The mechanism and spectrum of antibacterial action, indications for use and possible side effects is close to vancomycin. It is more effective in comparison with it with respect to Staphylococcus aureus, streptococci and enterococci, but is inferior to coagulase-negative staphylococci; Has a longer half-life from blood plasma (40-150 h) and less often causes side effects.

After intramuscular injection is well absorbed, bioavailability of about 90%, very slowly penetrates into organs and tissues; Excreted mainly by the kidneys.

Apply intravenously (drip) or intramuscularly.

Adults are prescribed initially intravenously 0.4 g 1-2 times a day for 1-3 days, then 0.2-0.4 g per day intravenously or intramuscularly; With pseudomembranous colitis - 0.2 g 2 times a day; With burns and endocarditis - up to 12 mg / kg per day. Children aged 2 months to 16 years are administered intravenously at a dose of 10 mg / kg 3 times at intervals of 12 hours, then 6-10 mg / kg once a day, intravenously or intramuscularly.

Contraindicated in breastfeeding.
