Description of the medicine: Diflunisal (Diflunisal)

DIFLUNISAL. 2, 4-Difluoro-4-hydroxy-3-biphenylcarboxylic acid.

Synonyms: Dolobid, Adomal, Algobid, Cididol, Diflonid, Diflunil, Dolisal, Dolobid, Flovacil, Flunidor, Fluodonil, Noalodol and others.

Nonsteroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. Has a prolonged effect. After a single oral intake, the effect occurs within the first hour, reaches a maximum after 2 to 3 hours, lasts 12 hours or more.

Like other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, diflunizal inhibits the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, but the mechanism of action of the drug has not been fully studied.

Apply diflunizal (dolobid) for relief of pain, especially in inflammatory processes: with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc .; Prescribe also under algodismenorrhea.

Is taken orally in the form of tablets; Tablets do not break, do not chew; Washed down with water.

Recommended doses for adults: initial (shock) - 1 g; Subsequent (supporting) - 0.5 g at intervals of 8 - 12 hours. Do not take more than 1.5 grams per day.

Possible side effects and precautions are basically the same as with the use of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (dyspeptic phenomena, allergic skin reactions, "blurred" vision, etc.).

Diflunizal (dolobid) is contraindicated in peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum (especially with gastrointestinal bleeding), hypersensitivity to salicylates and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, during pregnancy and lactation. Do not prescribe the drug to children (due to lack of sufficient experience). Caution should be observed for violations of kidney function and eye diseases (ophthalmic control is necessary).

Do not prescribe diflunizal (dolobid) together with indomethacin (the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding), acetylsalicylic acid (decrease in the concentration of diflunizola in blood plasma). The drug enhances the action of coumarin anticoagulants.
