METAQUAL (Methaqualonum). 2-Methyl-3- (ortho-tolyl) -4-quinazolinone.

White crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and alcohol.
Soothing and hypnotic, also has a moderate anticonvulsant effect. Enhances the effect of barbiturates, analgesics, neuroleptics. Possesses antitussive activity, enhances the effect of codeine. Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; splits the liver almost completely. The hypnotic effect is not inferior to barbiturates. Sleep occurs within 15 to 30 minutes after ingestion and lasts 6-8 hours.
Applied with sleep disorders of various etiologies, including insomnia associated with acute and chronic pain.
Assign inside 0.2 g (1 tablet) for half an hour before bedtime. With early awakening take (at night) 0.5 tablets. During the preoperative preparation, give 1 - 1, 5 tablets (0.2 - 0.3 g) the evening before the operation.
The drug is usually well tolerated. In rare cases, vomiting and other dyspeptic symptoms are observed.
Form release: pills to 0.2 g in a package of 10 pieces.
