Description of the medicine: Aprogen (Aprophenum)

APROPHEN (Aprophenum). (5-Diethylaminoethyl ester of 1, 1-diphenylpropionic acid hydrochloride.

Synonym: Arrofenum, Arrofene.

White crystalline powder, easily soluble in water and alcohol. Aqueous solutions (pH 3, 7 - 4, 7) are sterilized at +100 ° C for 30 minutes.

Has peripheral and central m- and nholinolytic action. By the peripheral holinoliticheskomu effect is more active than spasmolytic. Has also an antispasmodic effect. It dilates the coronary vessels, and in this respect it is more active than spasmolitin and papaverine. It causes an increase in tone and an increase in uterine contractions.

Applied with spasms of the abdominal cavity (spastic colitis, cholecystitis, renal and hepatic colic, peptic ulcer) and with spasms of vessels (endarteritis, spasms of cerebral vessels),

In obstetric and gynecological practice, they are used to stimulate labor: at the same time as the uterine contractions increase, aprofen reduces the spasm of pharynx and promotes faster opening of the cervix in the first stage of labor.
