Description of the medicine: Etamsylate (Etamsylatum)

ETAMZYLATE (Etamsylatum). 2, 5-Dihydroxybenzenesulfonate diethylammonium salt.

Synonyms: Dicynon, Aglumin, Altodor, Cyclonamine, Dicynen, Dicynene, Eselin, Etamsylate, Ethamsylate, Impedil, and others.

White with a pinkish touch of crystalline powder. Easily soluble in water, soluble in alcohol.

The drug increases the formation of capillaries in the walls of mucopolysaccharides of large molecular weight and increases the stability of capillaries, normalizes their permeability in pathological processes, improves microcirculation; Also has a hemostatic effect. The haemostatic effect is apparently associated with an activating effect on the formation of thromboplastin. The drug stimulates the formation of III coagulation factor, normalizes the adhesion of platelets. The drug does not affect prothrombin time, does not have hypercoagulable properties and does not contribute to the formation of blood clots.

Apply etamzilate for the prevention and stopping of capillary bleeding in diabetic angiopathies, surgical interventions in otorhinolaryngological (tonsillectomy, microsurgical operations on the ear, etc.), ophthalmologic (keratoplasty, cataract removal, antiglaucomatous surgeries and other subtle surgical interventions), dental (removal of cysts, granulomas, Tooth extraction, etc.), urological (after prostatectomy, etc.), in surgical and gynecological (especially in operations on highly vascularized tissues) practice, as well as in emergency cases with intestinal and pulmonary hemorrhage and hemorrhagic diathesis.

Assign intravenously, intramuscularly, subconjunctivally, retrobulbarno and inside.

Hemostatic action of etamzilate develops with intravenous administration after 5 to 15 minutes, the maximum effect occurs after 1 to 2 hours, the action lasts 4 to 6 hours or more. With intramuscular injection, the effect is somewhat slower. When taken inside, the maximum effect is observed after 3 hours.

For prophylactic purposes, the drug is administered intravenously or intramuscularly for 1 hour before the operation in a dose of 2-4 ml (1-2 ampoules), which corresponds to 0.25-0.5 g etamzilate, or give inside 2 to 3 tablets (0.25 D) 3 hours prior to surgery. If necessary, inject 2-4 ml intravenously during the operation. When the danger of postoperative bleeding is administered prophylactically from 4 to 6 ml (2 - 4 ampoules) per day or give 6 to 8 tablets per day (evenly during the day).

For therapeutic purposes (with bleeding) enter into the vein or intramuscularly immediately 2 - 4 ml, and then every 4 to 6 hours - 2 ml or give 2 tablets.

You can inject into a vein drip, adding to the usual solutions for infusion. Do not mix etamzilate in one syringe with other drugs.

In the treatment of metro- and menorrhagia, etamzilate is prescribed 0.5 g per os or 0.25 g parenterally, every 6 h for 5 to 10 days, then 0.25 g orally 4 times a day or 0, 25 g parenterally 2 times a day during hemorrhage and the last two cycles.
