Acts of the Apostles 12

At that time, King Herod raised his hands to some of those belonging to the church to make them evil,
And slew James, brother of John, with a sword.
Seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, Peter followed him, - when the days of unleavened bread were, -
And, having detained him, put him in prison, and ordered the four quaternions of soldiers to guard him, intending after Easter to bring him to the people.

So Peter was kept in prison, while the church diligently prayed for him to God.
th When Herod wanted to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound by two chains, and the guards at the doors guarded the prison.
th And, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared, and the light shone in the prison. [Angel], pushing Peter in the side, awakened him and said: get up quickly. And the chains fell from his hands.
And the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and put on your shoes." He did so. Then he said to him, "Put on your clothes and follow me."
[Peter] went out and followed him, not knowing what the Angel was doing was real, but thinking that he saw a vision.
After passing the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate leading to the city, which opened to them by themselves: they left, and walked one street, and suddenly the Angel was not with him.
eleven Then Peter, having come to himself, said: now I see truly that the Lord sent His Angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all that the people of the Jews expected.
And, having looked around, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John, called Mark, where many gathered and prayed.
When Peter knocked at the gate, a servant came out, in the name of Rod,
And, recognizing Peter's voice, did not open the gate with joy, but, running in, announced that Peter was standing at the gate.
And they said to her, Are you in your own mind? But she claimed hers. They said: it's his angel.
Meanwhile, Peter continued to pound. When they opened it, they saw it and were amazed.
th And he, with a sign with his hand, that they should be silent, told them how the Lord brought him out of prison, and said: "Let James and the brothers be informed about this." Then, going out, he went to another place.
At the approach of the day, a great alarm began between the soldiers about what had become of Peter.
Herod, looking for him and not finding, judged the guards and ordered them to be executed. Then he departed from Judea to Caesarea and remained there.

Herod was annoyed at the Tiryan and Sidonians; They agreed and came to him, and, inclining Vlast, the king's bedding, to their side, asked for peace, because their region was nourished from the royal realm.
On the appointed day Herod, clothed in royal clothes, sat in a lofty place and spoke to them;
But the people cried out: [This is] the voice of God, and not of man.
But suddenly the Angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give glory to God; And he, being eaten by worms, died.
The Word of God grew and spread.
And Barnabas and Saul, after fulfilling the commission, returned from Jerusalem (to Antioch), taking with them John, nicknamed Mark.
