Deuteronomy 12

Previous chapter Index Next chapter
These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land which the Lord, the God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that you live upon the earth.
Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains and on the hills, and under every green tree;
and destroy their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire, and break the idols of their gods, and destroy their names from that place.
You shall not make for the Lord your God;

but unto the place which the LORD shall choose, your God from all your tribes, to put his name there, and please come back,
and there bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and your flocks;
and there ye shall eat before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your households, in all that ye put your hand than you blessed the LORD thy God.
There you have to do just as we do here, all that he seems right;
For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
But when you go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, and when he gives you rest from all your enemies round about [you], and ye dwell in safety,
eleven then the place to elect the LORD your God, to put his name there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the Lord ;
and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your sons, and your daughters, and your servants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates, because he has no part nor inheritance with you.
Beware bring your burnt offerings at every place that you see;
But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, bring your burnt offerings and do all that I command you.
However, when only your soul desires, you can slaughter and eat, with the blessing of the LORD thy God, the meat, which he hath given thee in all thy gates: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the gazelle and as of the hart
Only you shall not eat the blood: on the ground pour it out as water.
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, and the firstborn of your herds and thy sheep, and all thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand;
But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God, --ty and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, [the stranger], which in dwellings thine, and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, of all that has been done by your hands.
Look, do not forsake the Levite, [who shall live] in your land.
When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he promised you, and you say, `I will eat flesh ', because thy soul wish to eat meat --togda, at the request of your soul, and eat meat.
If too far from you the place which the LORD thy God, to put his name there, then thou shalt kill of herds and flocks of thy who gave you the Lord, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates, at the request of your soul ;
but eat their way to eat the gazelle and the deer; the unclean and the clean may eat thereof;
Only be sure not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life: do not eat the life with the meat;
Thou shalt not eat it: pour it out on the ground like water;
do not eat it, in order to go well with thee and thy children after thee, when thou shalt do right in the sight of the Lord.
Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD.
and perform your burnt offerings, the meat and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God; but the blood of [other] thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and eat meat.
Observe and hear all these words which I command you, in order to go well with thee and thy children after thee for ever, when you do good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.
When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, which thou goest to possess them, and you took them, and dwellest in their land;
thirty Then beware lest thou be not snared by following them, they are destroyed from before thee, and not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods, so will I do ';
do not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD which He hates, they have done unto their gods, and they caused their sons and their daughters have burnt in the fire to their gods.
Everything that I command you, be careful to observe; not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
