Preface to the book "How to calculate the short-circuit current"

The necessity to determine the short-circuit currents during operation can arise: when the power supply circuit of the power plant is changed to test high-voltage electrical equipment, the thermal and electrodynamic action of the short-circuit currents, the suitability of the existing relay protection settings, means, lightning protection, etc .; At a partial replacement of electrical equipment at a power plant or substation, if the machines and apparatuses intended for installation differ from the dismantled by their passport data; If the design data for the object are absent or obsolete and short-circuit currents are currently unknown to the maintenance personnel. Other cases are also possible, due to the change in operating conditions, it is required to perform short circuit current calculations.
