UPD: 08/12/2013 How the monument to Lenin was demolished in Kiev
On Sunday evening, December 8, in Kiev a group of unidentified masks demolished a monument to Lenin, who was standing on the Bessarabskaya Square near Khreshchatyk Street. After that, the demonstrators destroyed the monument with the help of sledgehammers.
As you know, the responsibility for the demolition of the monument was assumed by the party VO Liberty. At the same time, the capital's police started criminal proceedings under article riots.
The head of the KCSA Alexander Popov called the demolition of the monument to Lenin an act of vandalism. At the same time, the Foreign Ministers of Poland and Sweden approved the demolition of the monument.
Recall, granite Lenin in Basarabeasca was considered the central symbol of the Communists. It was installed in December 1946. And before that, in 1939, he visited New York at a world exhibition. Nearly seven tons of quartzite from Karelia went to a sculpture measuring 3.45 meters. Of the same material was built the Mausoleum in Moscow. In recent years, he was attacked several times. In June 2009, the monument was damaged by the nationalist Nikolai Kochanivsky, along with several members of the Freedom Party, with sledgehammers repulsed his hand and nose.

Thousands of people gathered at the People's Veche in the regional centers of Ukraine. Some made speeches demanding the resignation of the government and the president, others collected warm clothes and food for the participants of the Kiev EuroMaidan, others simply prayed.
In addition, meetings were held this weekend in support of the current government. According to their participants, they approve of all decisions of the government.
