Rules of the game.
This card game is played in the small town of Kakeya, which today is part of the city of Unnan in Shimane Prefecture in Japan.
So the name of the game means the first word is the name of the city, and the second is the "play-card".
As far as we know, this game appeared in Kakee in the middle of the 18th century.
The rules of the game brought a local doctor from Nagasaki, when he studied there.
At that time Nagasaki was the only city in Japan where foreign trade was allowed.
Play a game with four or six players, where the players are divided into partners and play either with two pairs or with three pairs of players.
Partners can not become an agreement between themselves.
Partners are determined by lot by the following method.
Take the number of sticks, which determines the number of players that will play.
On each stick a figure from one to four or up to six is applied.
Then the players select the sticks or closed eyes or pull them out of the bag.
Partners become players who pull out sticks 1-3 and 2-4 if 4 players play.
When 6 players play, then the partners become the players who pulled the sticks 1-4, 2-5, 3-6.
Partners sit at the table in such a way that each player's left and right hand have his rivals.
Play a deck of 52 cards.
Aces, kings, ladies and jacks are called "Egara".
There are respectively 16 maps of egara.
The goal in the game is to take as many of these cards as possible.
Before the cards are dealt, there must be 5 specific items for each player to maintain the account.
It can be small pebbles, chips, any coins, in our case these are stones.
The first dealers in the game foursome are the players who pulled out the sticks 2-4, in the game six are the players who pulled the sticks 3-6.
In the next games, the losers become lenders.
Before handing out the cards, the dealers take the deck and divide it in half.
Next, each dispenser shuffles the cards and the first of them begins to turn them counter-clockwise to one each player until his half of the deck is finished.
Then, as soon as his half of the deck is finished, his partner continues to give out cards from the player on which the surrender is over, and also for each player, his cards will not end.
Thus, each player receives 13 cards each.
When you play six of each player, you get an unequal number of cards after handing out to other players.
The first trump card is trump, but the sender can change it.
The trump card is set for the whole game.
The trump cards are called "Kiri".
The trump card is called "Rensho".
If the trump card is changed to a club, then the ace of clubs becomes an ace, if the suit is changed to a tambourine or a worm, then the ace of spades remains an ace.
When playing the four of the first move belongs to the rivals handlers.
Any of them can go first, partners agree on this with each other.
Partners do not have the right to talk about their cards, they can only decide who will be the first to go.
The player who walks first can go with any of his cards, every next player counter-clockwise must put a card of the same suit, if there is no card of that color, then any card can be put.
The player who places the highest card in the suit of the first move wins the cards (bribe) and starts the first move in drawing the following cards (bribes).
The trump ace "Rensho" is the highest card and if he is in a bribe, then the bribe is taken by the owner of this ace.
A trump ace "Rensho" can be put at any time, for him the rules of re-laying does not exist.
The player who took the bribe must separate the cards of the picture - the ace, the king, the lady and the jack, and put them in the open in front of him, and the remaining cards should be put aside in the closed form.
After drawing all the cards, the player in partnership counts the number of taken maps of the pictures.
Partners who have taken from 9 to 16 cards of pictures, become winners.
For a certain number of taken pictures, players receive stones.
If the partners who have become winners, in the taken pictures there were no aces, then they receive 4 stones.
If they had one or two aces, but not Rensho, then they get 2 stones.
In other cases they receive 1 stone.
If the partners took less than 12 cards, they get 2 stones, if they took from 12-15 cards, they get 4 stones.
The table below shows these results.
Number of taken picture cards | 8-11 | 12-15 | 16 |
Not aces | 4 stones | 4 stones | - |
Without Rensho and trump ace (but with 1 or 2 other aces) |
2 stones | 2 stones | - |
otherwise | 1 stone | 2 stones | 4 stones |
