The rules of this game are described by Eric Aboagye.
Spar is a popular card game in Ghana.
A similar game is played in the state of Benin in West Africa, where it is called Jeu de Carte, in Togo it is called Sipa, in Nigeria and in the north of Mali it is the game of Agram, in Cameroon it is Fapfap.
They usually play together, the three of us, or the four of us, and we can play with seven shots.
You can play for interest, and you can for money, if for money, then the players make bets before the game.
The game uses a deck of 35 cards, where from the deck of 52 cards are withdrawn from 2 to 5 inclusive and still take an ace of spades.
The first deliverer in the game is determined by lot, in the following games players give cards in turn.
The deck is carefully packed and each player is dealt 5 cards, starting with the handler, first with 3 cards at a time, then 2 cards at a time.
The remaining deck is put aside in a closed form and does not take part in the game.
The first move in the game belongs to the player to the left of the handler.
The player can go from any of his cards to the center of the table, putting it in clear, and every next player must put a card of the same suit next to her, if there is no such card, then he can put any card.
The player who puts the highest card, takes the cards (bribe) to himself and makes the first move in drawing the following cards (bribes).
Thus, 5 bribes are played, after which the players count the points:
3 points if the bribe was won by the six;
2 points, if the bribe was won by the seven;
1 point for a bribe taken by any card from 8 and above.
You can win by six if you come from it and none of the players will have a card of such a suit.
You can play one game, and you can play a few.
If several games are played, then usually up to 10 points, who gets their first points or more points, becomes the winner.
If they play for money, then the winner wins with the money after each game and the scoring is only for one game.
Game Options
Some distribute 7 cards and play 7 bribes, in which case the maximum number of players is 5. Sometimes they play with 36 cards, adding an ace of spades. There is another way of calculating points: 6 points for 2 bribes taken by two sixes, 5 points for bribes taken 6 and 7 in any order, 4 points for 2 bribes taken by the two sevens. In some African countries, stones are used to record accounts. One stone means 1 point.
Jeu de Carte in Benin
In this version of the game play 31 cards, where in the deck of the card from seven to ace inclusive except for ace of spades. After shuffling the cards, one of the players must split the deck into two pieces and place the top part on the table in a closed form, and from the bottom to distribute cards to the players. The cards are also dealt with first 3 at a time, then 2 at a time. Drawing cards the next. The first player in the draw of a bribe walks with any of his cards in the clear, all other players clockwise must put cards of the same suit, if there is no such card, they put their cards in a closed form. After the draw, 1 point is awarded for the victory in the last trick and 2 points if the player wins the seven. The game goes to 24 points. If the game is played for money, then the rates range from 0.15 cents to 1.5 US dollars.
Sipa in Togo
They usually play for money from 2 or more players, the 31st card, where in the deck from seven to ace inclusive, without an ace of spades.
They play counter-clockwise.
The first deliverer is determined by agreement between the players.
The deck is necessarily "cut", where half of the cards are placed on the table, and from the second half cards are dealt to the players.
If there are not enough cards for distribution from the first half, then use the second half of the deck, which lies on the table.
Each player is dealt 5 cards, 3 cards and 2 cards at a time.
The first move in the game belongs to the player to the right of the handler.
The player can enter from any of his cards, if there is no such card, he puts his any card in a closed form.
The player who puts the highest card, takes the cards laid (bribe) to himself, and he owns the right of the first move in drawing the next bribe.
Thus, 5 bribes are played.
Points are awarded as follows: 6 points if the player wins the last 3 bribes with seven;
4 points if the player wins the last 2 bribes by seven;
2 points if the bribe is won by the seven;
1 point for winning the last trick from a figure eight or any other card of the highest value.
When calculating points, it is forbidden to combine points when counting.
For example, the player took the last two bribes with seven, and he was given only 4 points, 2 points separately for each bribe of the seven is not charged.
The winner is the player who first gets 10 or more points.
Sometimes players agree to play up to 6, 12 or 24 points.
