The plot of the film takes place in Odessa in 1980. Kostik Voloshin - the protagonist of the film, wants to become rich and to go abroad. Kostik leads a double life. In normal times, he is a Fellow of the Research Institute, and in his spare time, he plays cards for money and is well on it earns. Once Kostya beats tough gambler Gogi, a large sum of money.
