Business on sandblasting of mirrors !?

"SAND" is the technology of processing materials, in our case, glass, air-jetted high-pressure jet. The result of processing the glass with a sandblasting unit is the matte surface of the glass.

Sandblasting business is gaining momentum. Everyone wants to decorate his home with beautiful interior items. A mirror with a beautiful pattern or photo applied will give your apartment an individuality.

You can open your business with minimal investment in the artistic processing of mirrors.

Anything you need:

- You can buy (you can make yourself) a sandblaster
- Prepare a mirror and image template
- To produce stencils, for which images will be applied
- Buy ready-made mirrors, or order the right size for your template
- Apply stencils to the mirrors
- Apply matte images to the glass surface of mirrors using sandblasting technology.

Now consider everything in order ....

Sandblasting machine.
Step one. Acquisition of sandblasting machine.

The purchase of a sandblaster is the most important issue, otherwise one should not even do it. Of course you could do it yourself (there is nothing complicated in the design), but it is better to purchase a ready (factory) sandblasting machine .

A sandblasting chamber is a place to work. You can install at home (undesirable) or in the garage. Do not forget to also buy a fraction (the same sand) for your device! At the initial stage (experiment), you can do without it.

It is possible to produce a similar box (as in the figure, as a material - chipboard).

Attention!!! At work it is necessary to use personal protective equipment: overalls, respirators, glasses, gloves.

Step two. Making an image template.

To prepare a stencil (one-time use), you need an image template that you can get:

- create yourself in the computer program CorelDRAW
- take the finished (sold on CD or DVD discs with a vector image)
- to order in any advertising agency or from a private master (this method is good because you are customized image under the mirror, glass, etc.)

We make the stencil.

The stencil is made of PVC film, preferably white (because thick and cheap), used in outdoor advertising (self-adhesive film, purchased, for example, in an advertising agency). The thickness of the stencil will depend on the quality of the work, because With insufficient thickness, a jet of sand with air can pierce the stencil and spoil the product.

We cut out the stencil on the plotter.

Step three. We prepare the workpiece (mirror, glass).

We buy in the store or order in size and shape in workshops that cut to order (round, square, polygonal, etc.).

Check the processing (grinding) of the edge.

The issue of fixing the mirror to the wall can be solved individually (drilling holes, double-sided adhesive tape, strap or hangers from the back side to liquid nails).

Step Four. We put the stencil.

At the initial stage, you can entrust this to advertisers, bringing them their blanks of mirrors or glass, carefully study the technology of applying the film to the glass. In the future, it is better to do this yourself, so as not to increase the final cost of your services / product

To do this you will need:

- transport tape (transparent film for transferring figures cut from the self-adhesive film to the surface)
- squeegee - a plastic rectangular tool similar to a paint spatula (for smoothing the self-adhesive film).
We transfer the stencil to the transporter (after preliminary cleaning of the unnecessary details of the figure that was obtained after the plotter cutting). We remove the paper substrate from the stencil, and we put the resulting pattern on a mirror or glass.

We remove the transport (because the adhesive composition of PVC is stronger than the transport, the latter is removed, leaving a stencil on the glass or mirror).

Check the absence of air bubbles, otherwise pierce and smooth.

Leave for a day (the stencil hardens).

Step five. We apply the image with a sandblaster.

Mirror set vertically with a slight bias back, for stability (on a stand that resembles an easel (stand for a picture) artists).

Using a sandblaster, we make a matte image , leading to a uniform white state.

The nozzle of the gun should not be brought closer than 20-30 cm, try to maintain an equal distance during processing (different distances - different indentations during processing), check periodically for bald spots (look at the treated object from different angles).

Remove the film, clean the solvent with the remnants of the stencil adhesive.

You want to know how to organize your business in sandblasting, while earning decent money.

The product is ready!
