Lower posterior cog muscle

Lower posterior jagged muscle , m. Serratus posterior inferior, as well as the previous, flat, thin, is located under m. Latissimus dorsi. It starts from the superficial lumbar pectoral fascia, fascia thoracolumbalis, at the level of the two lower pectoral and two upper lumbar vertebrae. The tufts are directed obliquely upward and laterally and are attached by four prongs to the outer surface of the four lower ribs.

Function : lowers the lower ribs, participating in the act of breathing.

Innervation : nn. Intercostales (Thix-ThXII).

Blood supply : aa. Intercostales posteriores.
