Meniere's disease

Non-inflammatory disease of the inner ear (labyrinthitis). It is manifested by periodic attacks of dizziness with nausea or vomiting, imbalance, noise in the ears and lowering of hearing (one ear), increased irritability from loud sounds. It occurs in people suffering from diseases of certain organs or systems (allergic conditions, hypertension and hypotension, atherosclerosis, vegetovascular dystonia, hormonal disorders, menopause, various toxicoses, metabolic disorders, abuse of nicotine). The mechanism of the onset of the disease is not fully understood. It is assumed that it is based on the pathology of metabolic processes with the inner ear.
Seizures usually last not for long - a few hours or days, rarely weeks. Their frequency is influenced by age, working and living conditions, mental state and other factors. It is characteristic that a sharp disturbance of the vestibular function after the end of the attack is normalized, but the noise in the ears and the hearing loss remain and gradually progress in the future. For the disease is typically a lesion of one ear. Bilateral is very rare.
The diagnosis is established by the characteristic clinical manifestations of the hearing test data (audiogram).
During the attack - bed rest, salt-free diet, foot mustard baths, leeches on the mastoid process. To stop the acute attack - Powder Syabro, consisting of: platyphillipa hydrotartrate (0,03-0,05 g), sodium caffeine-benzonate (0.1 g), sodium bromide (0.15 g). To prevent vomiting intravenously injected with aminazine, diphenhydramine, ephedrine. Later, aeron, bellaspon, belloid, dedalon, suprastin, cinnarizine, calming (tranquilizers) are appointed. In the interictal period - electrophoresis 5% calcium chloride solution, physical exercises by a special technique, acupuncture. It is forbidden to drink alcohol, smoking, stay in the sun, swimming in deep water. In a hospital, surgical methods are used in combination with cryotherapy and ultrasound. In severe cases, the labyrinth of the inner ear is destroyed. Forecast: in some cases, the hearing can be saved.
