Description of the medicine: Ferbitolum (Ferbitolum)

Ferbitolum.

Iron for intramuscular injection. It is an aqueous solution of iron-sorbitol complex containing about 50% iron.

The liquid is dark brown in color.

In 1 ml contains about 0.05 g (50 mg) of iron.

The drug is prescribed for hypochromic iron deficiency anemia of various etiology (posthemorrhagic, gastrogenic, agastric, with chlorosis, etc.), especially in case of poor tolerance of iron preparations used inside.

For children, the drug is indicated for iron deficiency anemia associated with feeding defects, alimentary-infectious diseases, and anemia in premature infants.

Enter intramuscularly adult 2 ml daily. The course of treatment is 15-30 injections. Children under 2 years of age are injected at 0.5-1.0 ml, and over 2 years with 1 - 2 ml.

It is recommended after the course of treatment (15 - 30 injections) to be administered in the future (with a prophylactic goal) 2 ml 2 - 4 times a month.

The drug is usually well tolerated. In some cases, nausea is possible (drug cancellation is not required). When painful at the injection site, you can inject the drug in a 0.5% solution of novocaine.

The drug is contraindicated in hemochromatosis, violations of the liver and in acute nephritis.
