Description medications: Albendazole (Albendazolum)

Albendazole (Albendazolum).

[5- (propylthio) -1H-benzimidazol-2-yl] -carbamic acid methyl ester.

Synonym: Albendazole, Albendazole.
White or off-white powder. Practically insoluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, chloroform, soluble in DMSO, strong acids and alkalis.
Most effective against larval forms of cestodes (Echinococcus granulosus and Taenia silium) and nematodes (Strongiloides stercolatis). According to the mechanism of action similar to mebendazole.
Apply at enterobioze, ascariasis, trihotsefleze, ankilostomidoze, strongiloidoze and trichinosis.

Assign inside: at enterobioze - 0.2 g once, ascariasis - 0.4 g once; at trihotsefaleze - 0.4 grams per day for 1 to 3 days; when ankilostomidoze strongiloidoze and at the same dose for 3-5 days; trichinosis at - 10 mg / kg per day (3 doses) for 10-14 days.

Possible side effects: headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, abnormal liver and kidney function, inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, increased blood pressure, alopecia, allergic reactions.

Contraindications: retinal eye disease, pregnancy.
