Description of the medicine: Erynitum

ERINIT (Erynitum).

Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (tetranitropentaerythritol).

Synonyms: Nitropenton, Angicap, Dilcoran, Neo-Corovas, Nitrinal, Nitropentaerythrit, Nitropenthrite, Nitropenton, Pentaerithrityl tetranitras, Pentaerithrityl tetranitrate, Pentaerythrit tetranitrate, Pentafin, Pentalong, Pentanitrine, Pentanitrol, Pentaryl, Pentaryt, Pentrite , Perangil, Peritrat, Quintrate, Vasocor, Vasodilatol and others.

White crystalline powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol. Explosive.

The chemical structure and pharmacological properties are close to nitroglycerin, but in comparison with it it is more slowly absorbed by mucous membranes and has a slower, less dramatic, but longer action. The effect of ingestion occurs in 30 45 minutes, with sublingual use - after 15 - 20 minutes. The duration of the effect is 4-5 hours. The hypotensive effect is less pronounced than that of nitroglycerin.

Applied for chronic coronary insufficiency. The drug prevents the onset of attacks of angina pectoris or reduces their number and facilitates the flow. For relief of attacks, erynitis is of little use due to the slow onset of the effect.

Take in (1 hour before meals) in the form of tablets of 0.01-0.02 g (10 - 20 mg, or 1 - 2 tablets) after 4 to 6 hours. To prevent night attacks of angina sometimes appoint 0.02 G before bedtime. The course of treatment usually lasts 2 to 4 weeks. Repeated courses are prescribed intermittently, the duration of which depends on the course of the disease. If the drug is taken continuously for too long, it is possible to develop tolerance.

According to modern data, erynitol is less effective than other organic nitrates. Nitrosorbide, in particular, gives a more pronounced and 2 times more prolonged effect than erinite.

Erinitis is usually well tolerated. Adverse events observed with the intake of nitroglycerin (headache, tinnitus, dizziness), are rare with the use of erinite and less pronounced; Sometimes there is a breakdown in bowel function (diarrhea). When the dose is reduced or after discontinuation of the drug, side effects occur.

Due to the relatively good tolerability, erynitol can be used in the absence of other similar drugs with appropriate dosing.

Contraindications are the same as for other organic nitrates.

Form release: tablets of 0.01 and 0.02 g (10 and 20 mg).

Storage: List B. In a cool, dark place away from the fire.

Under the name "Dilcoran 80" abroad, erinite tablets of prolonged action containing 0.08 g (80 mg) of the drug are produced. The action of such tablets lasts about 12 hours.
