Bedsore

Bedsore - necrosis of the skin, due to pressure on the tissue with broken trophic. At a young age, pressure sores occur with diseases and injuries of the spinal cord, in elderly patients with weakened patients with prolonged immovable lying. More often localized on the protruding parts of the body: scapula, sacrum, heels.

Symptoms, course: first there is hyperemia of the skin with a bluish tinge, then - maceration and various sizes of a ulcerous surface with a necrotic bottom and a purulent discharge, often with an unpleasant odor. The diagnosis is simple.

Treatment. Purification of the wound surface from necrosis, fight with a purulent infection. Local-ointment "Trofodermin", "Kombutec". Treatment presents significant difficulties.

Prevention. Hygienic measures, careful smoothing of the sheets, frequent bed rest (bed linen should be dry), treatment of the skin with camphor alcohol. Frequent changes in body position, the use of different pads to reduce pressure on the protruding parts of the body.
