Occlusion of subclavian vein

Occlusion of the subclavian vein (Pagetta-Shreter syndrome). Acute thrombosis of the axillary or subclavian vein occurs more often in young people after excessive physical exertion, for example, during work, playing tennis, etc. In the occurrence, microenadals of the inner vein of the vein during physical exertion, compression of the veins and traumatization of its clavicle are important.

Symptoms, course. Characterized by pain and swelling of the hand after exercise. Upon examination, a strengthened venous pattern is seen on the arm, the supraclavicular area and the anterior surface of the thorax, and the swelling of the arm. The diagnosis is confirmed by phlebography.

Treatment. In an acute case - thrombectomy, in the presence of a pronounced periprocess - phlebolysis. Anticoagulant therapy, elastic bandaging of the hand is also necessary.

Secondary forms of the syndrome arise as a result of compression of the vein by lymph nodes, tumors, etc. Treatment depends on the cause that caused a violation of the outflow of venous blood from the limb.

The prognosis is serious.
