Postpartum endomyometritis

Postpartum endomyometritis. The reason is staphylococcal, streptococcal or colibacillary infection. It develops usually as a result of the penetration of microbes into the remains of the decidua of the uterus with the involvement of the adjacent areas of myometrium.

Symptoms, course. The disease begins on the 3-4th day after childbirth. The temperature rises to 38 g. C, the pulse rate increases, but its frequency corresponds to the temperature, there is a single chill. The general condition is almost not disturbed. Local changes: subinvolution of the uterus, soreness "along the ribs of the uterus" -the location of large lymph vessels, lousy with an admixture of pus, a lochiometer. The disease lasts 8-10 days.

Treatment. Bed rest, cold on the lower abdomen, in the first 2 days of antibiotics with the mandatory determination of the sensitivity of microflora to them, sulfonamides, drugs that reduce the uterus, iv injection of 10% calcium chloride solution.
