Furuncle of the nasal vestibule

The furuncle of the vestibule of the nose arises as a result of trauma and scratching, usually applied to the patient with a finger, with the introduction of staphylococcal infection into the sebaceous glands and hair follicles located at the entrance to the nose. Especially often observed in individuals prone to general furunculosis.

Symptoms, course. Severe pain, often giving in the temple, teeth, eyes. The skin on the tip and wing of the nose is swollen, hyperemic, tense and very painful when touching. The body temperature can be elevated. Inflammatory swelling can spread to surrounding tissues of the face. Sometimes severe complications occur (venous sinus thrombosis), especially after piercing or squeezing out the furuncle, which is completely unacceptable, since it leads to the spread of infection through the blood vessels into the cranial cavity.

Treatment conservative. With the beginning of furunculosis, 10% of the synthomycin emulsion or gauze turunda moistened with a solution of the Bohr liquid is placed in the nose (every 3-4 hours). With furunculosis, rest, antibiotic therapy is necessary. UHF therapy, autohemotherapy, restorative treatment, gamma globulin, staphylococcal anatoxin are also used.
