Botanical characteristics. Family rose-colored. Shrub with smooth dark gray bark in height up to 1,5-2 m. The leaves are regular elliptical, smooth, petiolate, shiny. The whitish or pink flowers are collected at the ends of the branches in the corymbose inflorescences. Blossoms in June-July. The fruits of aronia blackberry - black, juicy, rather large berries, ripen in August-September.

Spread. In the wild, it grows in North America. In our country it is widely cultivated in parks and gardens, for gardening of streets, as a fruit and berry and decorative plant.

Used parts of the plant. Fruit.
The fruits of the black chokeberry contain from 4.6 to 10.2% of sugars (invert sugar, glucose, fructose, sucrose), tannins, vitamin P, carotene, ascorbic acid, flavonoids, anthocyanins, iodine.

Application. Used as a vitamin remedy (especially contains a lot of vitamin P) for asthenia, anemia and hypovitaminosis.
Assign with hypertension and atherosclerosis as an antihypertensive and strengthening agent. The use of ashberry ash is shown with thyrotoxicosis.

Contraindications. It is not recommended for hyperacid gastritis and gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, severe arterial hypotension, and also for people who have high blood coagulability.

Preparation. Infusion: 2-4 tablespoons of dried fruits are insisted in a thermos bottle with 2 cups of boiling water. The next day, the infusion is taken in 3 divided doses for 20-40 minutes before meals.
Juice of ashberry ashberry is prescribed for 50 g per reception for 20-30 minutes before meals.
Fresh fruits take 100 g per reception 3 times a day for 30 minutes before meals.
The berries are wiped in autumn with sugar (1 kg of berries, 1.5 kg of sugar), used as jam.
