When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots, [and] a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for to thee, the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
When nigh unto the battle, then let the priest will approach and say to the people,
and say to him: Hear, O Israel! Today you are entering into battle against your enemies, let not your hearts faint, fear not, neither be troubled and do not be dismayed them,
for the Lord your God goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, [and] to save you.
And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, who built a new house and not dedicated it? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in battle and another dedicate it;
and who planted a vineyard and has not used it, let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in battle and another man eat of it;
and who is engaged to the woman and not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle and another man take her.
And the guards announced to the people, and say, Who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he made timid heart of his brothers, his heart.
When the officers have all the people, that shall put military chiefs in the leaders of the people.

When you approach a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace;
eleven if it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you [the gate], all the people who are found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and serve thee;
if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it,
and [when] the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword;
But the women and children and the cattle and everything in the city, take him all the prey, and the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God giveth thee;
so shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far from you, which are not of [the number of] the cities of these nations.
And in the cities of these peoples that the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breathes,
but shall utterly destroy them: the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, as the Lord commanded thee thy God,
lest they teach you to do after all their abominations, which they have done for their gods, and so you sin against the LORD your God.
If a long time thou shalt besiege [kakoy-nibud] city to fight against it and take it, do not spoil his trees from which to eat, and do not cut them down, for the tree of the field man, that could leave you in strengthening;
Only the trees of which thou knowest that they are not trees for food, thou shalt destroy and cut them down, and build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it fall.
