So, Israel, listen to the decrees and laws that I teach you to do, that you may live, and go and inherit the land that the Lord God of your fathers gives you. |
2
Do not add to what I command you, and do not subtract from it; Keep the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you. |
3
Your eyes saw [all] what the Lord did with Baal-Peor: every man that followed Baal-Peor, the LORD thy God destroyed, from the midst of thee; |
4
But you who have cleaved to the Lord your God are still alive. |
5
Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, as the LORD my God commanded me, that you so act in the land to which you are entering in order to possess it; |
6th
So keep and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the eyes of the nations, who, hearing about all these decrees, will say: only this great people is a wise and intelligent people. |
7th
For is there any great nation to whom the gods [were] so near as the Lord our God is near to us, when we call upon him? |
8
And is there any great nation with such just rulings and laws as this whole law that I am offering you today? |
9
Only take heed and keep your soul carefully, lest you forget the deeds that your eyes saw, and that they do not come out of your heart all the days of your life; And tell of them to your sons and to the sons of your sons, |
10
About the day when you stood before the Lord your God, under Horeb, and when the Lord said to me, gather people to Me, and I will tell them My words, from which they will learn to fear Me all the days of their life on earth and teach their sons Their own. |

You approached and stood under the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heavens, [and there was] darkness, a cloud and darkness. |
12
And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire; You heard the voice of the words, but did not see the image, but only the voice; |
13
And He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to do, the Ten Commandments, and wrote it on two stone tables; |
14
And the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and laws, that you may fulfill them in the land to which you are entering to possess it. |
15
Keep it firmly in your souls that you did not see any image the day the Lord spoke to you on Horeb from the midst of the fire, |
16
So that you do not corrupt and do not make yourself sculptures, images of any idol representing a man or a woman, |
17th
The image of any livestock that is on earth, the image of any winged bird that flies under the sky, |
18
The image of any [creeping] creeping on the earth, the image of any fish that is in the waters below the earth; |
19
And that you, having looked at the sky and saw the sun, the moon and the stars [and] all the host of heaven, did not deceive and bow to them and serve them, for the Lord your God has given them to all nations under the whole sky. |
20
And the Lord took you and brought you out of the furnace of iron, from Egypt, that you may be his people as an inheritance, as it is now. |
21
And the Lord was angry with me for you, and swore that I would not cross the Jordan and enter into that good land that the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance; |
22
I will die in this land without crossing the Jordan, and you will pass and take possession of that good land. |
23
Take heed lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and that you do not make for yourself idols depicting anything, as the LORD your God commanded you; |
24
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. |
25
If your sons and sons are born to your sons, and if you live long on the earth, you will be corrupted and make a statue depicting something, and you will do evil in the eyes of the Lord your God, and provoke him, |
26th
I testify to you today, heaven and earth, that you will soon lose the land for the inheritance of which you pass beyond the Jordan; You will not spend much time on it, but you will perish; |
27th
And the Lord will scatter you among all the nations, and you will remain in small numbers among the nations to which the Lord will lead you; |
28
And there ye shall serve gods made by hands of men of wood and stone, which they neither see nor hear, neither eat nor smell. |
29
But when you seek the Lord your God there, you will find [Him], if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. |

When thou shalt be in trouble, and when all this overtakes thee in the aftereffect of time, thou shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and thou shalt hearken unto his voice. |
31
The Lord your God is a merciful God; He will not forsake you, nor destroy you, and forget the covenant with your fathers, which he swore to them. |
32
For ask before the times of the former, who were before you, from the day when God created man on earth, and from the end of heaven to the edge of heaven: was there anything like this great thing, or has such a thing been heard? |
33
Hath the people heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, and has remained alive, as you have heard? |
34
If God tried to go, take a people from among the people by execution, signs and wonders, and by war, and by a strong hand, and a high muscle, and with great horrors, as the Lord your God did for you, in Egypt Before your eyes? |
35
It is given to you to see that you know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else besides Him; |
36
He sent from heaven to hear your voice to teach you, and on earth showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from the midst of the fire; |
37
And since he loved your fathers and chose you after their descendants, he brought you out himself with his great power from Egypt, |
38
To drive out nations from your face that are greater and stronger than you, [and] to bring you [and] to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is now [seen]. |
39
Know this now, and put it on your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and in the earth below, [and] there is not yet [except Him]; |
40
And keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may be well with you and with your sons after you, and that you stay a long time in the land that the Lord your God gives you forever.

Then Moses separated the three cities on this side of the Jordan to the east of the sun, |
42
So that a murderer who runs away will kill his neighbor without intention, without being an enemy to him neither yesterday, nor the third day [and] that, having fled to one of these cities, he remained alive: |
43
Bezer in the desert, in the plain in the Reuben tribe, and Ramoth in Gilead in Gad, and Golan in Bashan in the Manasseh. |
44
This is the law that Moses offered to the children of Israel; |
45
These are the commandments, the statutes, and the statutes Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they were come out of Egypt, |
46
Beyond the Jordan, in the valley against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the children of Israel, when he came out of Egypt. |
47
And they possessed his land and the land of Og, the king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, which are beyond the Jordan to the east of the sun, |
48
[Beginning] from Aroer, which [lies] on the bank of the stream of Arnon, to Mount Zion, it is Hermon, |
49
And all the plain on this side of the Jordan to the east, to the very sea of the plain at the foot of Pisgah. |
