And it was, after these incidents, God tempted Abraham and said to him: Abraham! He said: Here I am. |

[God] said: Take your son, your only one, whom you love, Isaac; And go into the land of Moriah, and there bring it for a burnt offering on one of the mountains, of which I will tell you.
|

Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his ass, took with him two of his young men and Isaac his son; He stabbed wood for a burnt offering, and got up and went to the place of which God had told him. |
4
|
On the third day, Abraham lifted up his eyes, and he saw that place from afar. |
5
|
And Abraham said unto his servants, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the son will go there and worship, and we will return to you." |

And Abraham took the wood for a burnt offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; He took a fire and a knife in his hand, and went both together. |

And Isaac began to speak to Abraham his father, and said: My father! He answered: Here I am, my son. He said: Here is fire and wood, where is the lamb for the burnt offering? |

Abraham said: God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering, my son. And they went [further] both together. |

|
And they came to the place of which God had told him; And Abraham built an altar there, spread out the wood, and bound his son Isaac, and laid it on the altar above the wood. |

And Abraham stretched out his hand and took a knife to slay his son.

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said: Abraham! Abraham! He said: Here I am. |

[The angel] said, "Do not put your hand on the lad, and do nothing against him, for now I know that you are afraid of God and have not pitied your son, your only son, for me." |

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw: and, behold, behind the ram, which was entangled in its horns more often. And Abraham departed, and took the ram, and offered it for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. |

And Abraham called the name of the place Jehovah-jireh. Therefore [now] it is said: on the mountain of Jehovah it will be seen.

And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven |

|
And said: I swear by myself, says the Lord, that, since you did this thing, and did not spare your son, your only one, |

|
Then I bless you, I will bless you, and multiplying will multiply your seed, as the stars of heaven, and as the sand on the sea shore; And your seed shall possess the cities of his enemies; |
18
|
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice. |
19
|
And Abraham returned to his young men, and rose and went together to Beersheba; And Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

|
After these incidents, Abraham was announced, saying: "Behold, Milka has given birth to your son Nahor, |

From Bethuel was born Rebekah. Eight of these gave birth to Milc Nahor, his brother Abraham; |
