And all the children of Israel went out, and all the congregation assembled, as one man, from Dan to Beersheba, and the land of Gilead before the LORD at Mizpah.
And the heads of all the people, all the tribes of Israel, assembled in the congregation of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen, exposing the sword.
And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel came to Mizpah. And the children of Israel said: Tell me, how did this evil happen?
Leviticus, the husband of the murdered woman, answered and said: "With my concubine I came to spend the night in Gibeah of Benjamin;
And the people of Gibeah rebelled against me, and surrounded me for a house at night; They intended to kill me, and my concubine was tortured, so that she died;
th I took my concubine, cut her and sent her to all the domains of the possession of Israel, for they had done a lawless and shameless thing in Israel;
th Behold, all of you, the children of Israel, consider this matter and decide here.
And all the people rose up as one man, and said, Let no man go into his tent, and no man shall return to his house;
And this is what we will do this day with Gibeah: Let us go to her by lot.
And take ten men out of a hundred of all the tribes of Israel, one hundred thousand and one thousand from darkness, that they bring food for the people that go against Gibeah of Benjamin, and punish her for the shameful thing that she did in Israel.
eleven And all Israel gathered themselves together against the city unanimously, as one man.

And the tribes of Israel sent to all the tribes of Benjamin to say, "What a disgraceful thing you have done!"
Give out the depraved people who are in Gibe; We will kill them and eradicate the evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin did not want to hear the voice of their brothers, the children of Israel;
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together from the cities to Gibeah, to go to war against the children of Israel.
And there were accounted on that day of the children of Benjamin, [gathered] out of the cities, twenty-six thousand men drawing out the sword; In addition, of the inhabitants of Gibe counted seven hundred choice;
Of all this people there were seven hundred chosen men who were left-handed, and all these, throwing stones from the sling into the hair, were not thrown by.
th The Israelites, in addition to the sons of Benjamin, counted four hundred thousand men who drew the sword; They were all capable of war.

And they arose and went to the house of God, and they questioned God and the sons of Israel said: who among us will go first to war with the sons of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah [will go] ahead.
And the children of Israel arose early in the morning, and camped by the side of Gibeah;
And the Israelites came out to war against Benjamin, and the sons of Israel went into battle formation near Gibeah.
And the children of Benjamin went up from Gibeah, and in that day they put twenty-two thousand Israelites on the earth.
But the people of Israel took courage, and again began to fight in the place where they stood on the previous day.
And the children of Israel went up, and wept before the LORD until evening, and inquired of the LORD: Shall I yet join the battle of the children of Benjamin my brother? The Lord said: go against him.
And the children of Israel went up to the children of Benjamin on the second day.
Benjamin went out against them from Gibeah on the second day, and eighteen thousand men laid bare the sword on the land of the children of Israel.

th Then all the children of Israel and all the people went and came to the house of God and, sitting there, wept before the Lord, and fasted that day until evening, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
th And the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord (at that time the ark of the covenant of God was there,
And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron, stood before him): Shall I go out to battle with the sons of Benjamin my brother, or not? The Lord said: go; Tomorrow I will give it into your hands.
And Israel set an ambush around Gibeah.
thirty And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and went into battle formation before Gibeah, as before.
The sons of Benjamin went out against the people and moved away from the city, and began, as before, to kill from the people on the roads, from which one goes to Bethel and the other to Gibea by the field, and killed up to thirty men from Israel.
And the children of Benjamin said, They fall before us, as before. And the children of Israel said, Let us flee from them and distract them from the city to the roads.
And all the Israelites rose from their place and lined up in Baal Tamar. And the ambush of Israel rushed from its place, on the west side of Gibe.
And there came to Gibeah ten thousand chosen men from all Israel, and a fierce battle began; But [the sons of Benjamin] did not know that they were in trouble.
And the Lord struck Benjamin before the Israelites, and in that day the Israelites of the Benjaminites put twenty-five thousand a hundred men who had drawn their sword.
When the sons of Benjamin saw that they were smitten, then the Israelites gave way to the sons of Benjamin, for they hoped for the ambush they had set up near Gibeah.
The ambush hurried and rushed to Giva, and entered and struck the whole city with a sword.
The Israelis put up a sign with an ambush to the attack, rising smoke from the city.
So, when the Israelites retreated from the battlefield, Benjamin began to smite and plundered the Israelites to thirty men and said: "Again they fall before us, as in the previous battles,
Then the smoke began to rise from the city with a pillar. Benjamin looked back, and, behold, [the smoke] from the whole city goes back to heaven.
The Israelites returned, and Benjamin became frightened, for he saw that his misfortune had come to him.
And they fled from the Israelites on the way to the wilderness; But the scourge pursued them, and those who came out of the cities beat them there;
Surrounded Benjamin, and pursued him to Menuhi and struck to the easternmost side of Gibeah.
And the sons of Benjamin fell eighteen thousand men, strong men.
The rest turned and ran to the wilderness, to the rock of Rimmon, and another five thousand people were beaten on the roads; And chased them to Gidoma and killed two thousand of them.
And all the sons of Benjamin that fell that day were twenty-five thousand men who drew the sword, and they were all strong men.
And the remaining turned and fled to the desert, to the rock of Rimmon, six hundred men, and stayed there for four months in the stone mountain of Rimmon.
And the Israelites again went to the sons of Benjamin, and smote them with the sword, and the people in the city, and the cattle, and all that was met, and all that were [in the way] cities were burned with fire.
