Numbers 20

And the children of Israel, all the congregation, came to the wilderness of Shin in the first month, and the people stopped in Kadesh, and Miriam died there and was buried there.
And there was no water for the community, and they gathered against Moses and Aaron;
And the people murmured against Moses, and said: Oh, if we also died, when our brothers died before the Lord!
Why did you bring the company of the Lord into this desert to die here for us and our cattle?
And why did you bring us out of Egypt to bring us to this unfortunate place where you can not sow, there are no fig trees, no grapes, no pomegranates, no water for drinking?
th And Moses and Aaron went from the people to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and fell on their faces, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them.
th And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying:
Take the rod and assemble the company, you and Aaron, your brother, and say in their eyes a rock, and she will give water of herself: and so you will water them out of the rock, and give water to society and its cattle.
And Moses took the rod from the presence of the Lord, as he commanded him.
And Moses and Aaron gathered the people together to the rock, and he said to them: "Hear, you disobedient, do we get water from this rock for you?"
eleven And Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and much water flowed, and the society drank and his cattle.
And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe me, to make me holiness in the sight of the children of Israel, you will not bring this people into the land that I give to him.
This is the water of Meribah, in which the sons of Israel came into conflict with the Lord, and He showed them His holiness.

And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the King of Edom: "This is what your brother Israel says: you know all the difficulties that have come upon us;
Our fathers went to Egypt, and we lived in Egypt for a long time, and the Egyptians did evil to us and our fathers;
And we cried to the Lord, and he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt; And, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city by your very border;
th Let us pass through your land; we will not go in the fields and in the vineyards, and we will not drink water from the wells; But let us go by the way of the king, let not we turn to the right or to the left, until we go beyond your borders.
But Edom said to him: Do not pass through me, otherwise I will come out against you with a sword.
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go a great way, and if we drink your water, I and my cattle, I will pay for it; Only with my feet will I pass, that it costs nothing.
But he said: do not pass. And Edom came out against him with a great people and with a mighty hand.
So Edom did not agree to allow Israel to go beyond it, and Israel went away from it.

And the children of Israel set out from Kadesh, and all the congregation came to mount Hor.
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, at the border of the land of Edom, saying:
Let Aaron be attached to his people; Because he will not enter the land that I give to the children of Israel, because you were disobedient to my command at the waters of Meribah;
And take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them to Mount Hur.
th And take off his clothes from Aaron, and put on Eleazar his son in them, and let Aaron go and die there.
th And Moses did as the Lord commanded. They went to Mount Or in the eyes of the whole society,
And Moses took his clothes off of Aaron, and put on them Eleazar his son; And Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. And Moses and Eleazar descended from the mountain.
And all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, and Aaron mourned the whole house of Israel for thirty days.
