Linear barcodes (1D codes)

2D codes are able to encode hundreds of bytes. The most common symbologies are QR-Code, DataMatrix (ECC200) and PDF417. Linear barcodes (1D codes) are usually used in logistics and industry for serial numbers, product IDs, etc. EAN and UPC bar-codes are used in retail point of sale for product identification.
